Studio Shoot #1 - Keegan & Catherine

My son Keegan made an appearance of course!

This was my first real attempt at studio photography. I went to Craig Freeman Studios to practice with Craig and try out a bunch of different lighting techniques. Craig just opened up his studio so we just shot away and had a blast! I think that shooting in a studio environment always seemed a little intimidating to me. I don't think I did too bad, what do you think? I have a feeling there is going to be more studio fun in the future.

Introducing Brian Ambrose, the very first Documentary Wedding Photographer!

He also loves Carrot Cake!!!

I met Brian at the Master Your Craft workshop on Wednesday, he's a pretty cool cat and an awesome Photographer. He might kill me for this post, but after all, he told me to take the shot!

Bob Davis & Mike Colon'

Bob demonstrating capture angles.
My notes that seem to always end up illegible.
Mike and Mac.
Bob using Carla and Steve to demonstrate rim lighting.
The GraphiStudio display.

Needless to say, this was a great overall experience. I learned some valuable marketing techniques and really cool lighting and camera tricks. For all that are on the fence about this program, spend the $200, it's well worth it! The networking session alone is worth it!

Continuing Education!!!!!

Well things are just about to hit 5th gear for me, at least that's what it feels like! I just finished the CTPPA convention last weekend so I'm trying to process all of the great information I've learned. Earlier this year I posted about continuing my education and broadening my photography horizons. I feel committed to all of my past, present and future brides and grooms to do so. I recently booked some seminars that I am totally excited to attend this year. The first being a one day seminar on Feb.20 with Mike Colon and Bob Davis, two of the top tier Wedding Photographers in the industry. Their style, approach, work flow and sense of business will be just a few of the topics that will be discussed. The second I will be attending is a week long hands on workshop with Hanson Fong in Cape Cod between April 6-11. He is known as the master of artistic posing. We will spend 5 days shooting bride and groom models to polish our skills and learn new techniques. And finally, the third one which I can't wait for, is the LaCour Studios Workshop in Atlanta, Georgia from Aug. 18-21. The Title of this one is Branding and Marketing, this will be a complete overhaul on how to take your business to another level.

Needless to say It is going to be an awesome year, I can feel it in my bones! In 39 days Aislinn will be arriving via Erin's belly so things should get interesting. If any of you are going to these seminars let me know, I'd love to meet some new people.

By the way, Erin and I just had what I can consider the best dinning experience we've ever had last night It is in Storrs, CT! The restaurant is called the Altnaviegh Inn. Wow, what great food and trust me I know good food. The price is heavy but the portions and experience is worth it! I had a pan seared Duck breast med. rare, with Smoked Gouda risotto and asparagus and Erin had a combo of Lamb chops and Cornish game hen. Check it out some time, you won't be disappointed!

Carolyn and Kevin!

This image of me with Carolyn and Kevin was taken by a guy named Matt, I told him I would give him credit! Nice shot!

Carolyn and Kevin had to be one of the cutest couples I have ever had the privilege of photographing. The love they had for each other filled the room and everyone noticed! Their families were equally great as well. It just so happened that Kevin's entire family were NY Giant fans and Carolyn's family were Patriots fans. You could imaging the trash talking that was getting thrown around. Needless to say, I had a great time, not to mention this was my first shoot with my new 50mm f/1.2 lens!

This was the second time I've worked with them, the first being their e-shoot. What a difference when you have the opportunity to work with your brides and grooms before the wedding. I strongly recommend doing so if you don't already. One thing for sure is it has made my job easier and the trust you build with your clients is priceless!

Wedding #1

Well my wedding season gets off to an early start this year! This morning I'm off to Holyoke Mass. to shoot my first of 2008. It looks like it will be an awesome day, 41 degrees, partly cloudy with a light breeze. The wedding is at The Delaney House, it is a very pristine property with great views, should be fun!

I'll post some images either tonight or tomorrow to give you a sneak peek. Tomorrow I am attending my great friends Alison and Gabe's Son Benji's 1 year birthday/super bowl party. It should be a blast! I'm bringing my world famous Vanilla Shrimp w/ Tarragon Guacamole, Wellfleet Oysters and Guinness, of course!

Be safe tomorrow!

Bye for now!
