Baby Aislinn / Keegan Update

I just wanted to give you a taste of some images I took this week, things are finally settling down and we kinda have a daily routine in place (and I use the term - kinda have a daily routine - very lightly). I am going to be doing a "studio" shoot with the kids this week so check back soon! All else is well at the homestead, we are just enjoying our new life and watching the kids grow everyday. We are truly blessed and very thankful!

The Bold And The Beautiful - "Engagement Edition" - Sirtaz & Lisa

Well I hit Elizabeth Park twice in one week with Engagement sessions and needless to say, they were both awesome! It's amazing the difference 5 days makes with the flowers, Saturday there was 1 lonely tulip (see Pete & Diane post below) and Thursday the was hundreds.

Anyway, I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful Lisa & Sirtaz for their e-session Thursday. Wow, that's all I can say! I was supposed to be making them look good but I think they made me look good. Fun, willing and very spirited is how I would describe them, there wasn't too much they wouldn't do. A special thanks to Sirtaz for doing whatever I asked, he's a trooper. The poor guy had 4 or 5 knee surgeries and was still willing to get down and dirty. As for Lisa, I can only imagine how gorgeous she will be in her wedding dress!

Wedding Date: 5/18/08 - Stay Tuned!

Operation Engagement - Pete and Diane

This was the only tulip in bloom in the entire garden, so of course, we had to take advantage!

I had a great time Saturday shooting Pete and Diane for their engagement session. This was the perfect prelude to their wedding at the Branford Mansion. Pete was great, such a ham and pretty much willing to do anything you ask. And as for the beautiful Diane, as the day went on her sarcastic character came out and made for an awesome shoot. I can already tell we are going to have fun shooting their wedding.

I can't emphasize enough to present and future Brides and Grooms how important these engagement sessions are. Imagine paying thousands of dollars on a photographer to only stress out, wonder or hope that he or she will be personable or able on your wedding day. Not to mention for us, it's priceless. Our job is to catch those natural moments as they happen and they are much easier to catch when you've already built a working relationship with the Bride and Groom. Don't you think??

I think of my self on the job as 1/3 comedian, 1/3 Photographer and last but not least 1/3 psychologist. It always makes the couple more at ease and relaxed, which allows us to capture your first family heirloom naturally.

Attention all Brides and Grooms of mine, if you haven't scheduled your e-shoot, please do so soon! I don't have many dates left available until the fall.

Posting or lack there of!

Sorry for the lack of recent postings. We are still getting adjusted to baby Aislinn being home (one week tomorrow). The biggest challenge, besides sleep deprivation has been trying to ease the transition for our 2 year old son Keegan. He's doing as well as can be expected, minus a few temper tantrums.

I just had an awesome e-shoot yesterday with a great couple Diane & Pete so stay tuned. Hopefully I will get some images up by tonight, tomorrow the latest!

Thanks for your patience!

Reality Check

Today I was contacted by my old friend Pedro from my military years which I have not spoken to in about 5 years. I was rather surprised to hear from him but none the less, happy that he contacted me. Pedro and I were great friends during our time in the Navy and have shared many good times!

Unfortunately, Pedro told me that a fellow sailor that we were all friends with was killed by a roadside bomb in July of last year. His name was Petty Officer 1st Class Jeff Chaney. Jeff was like a big brother to me during our stay stationed in Williamsburg, VA. He was a great friend and was always fun to be around. He was the guy who you always wanted to hangout with because you knew if he was involved, there was going to be much fun to be had. Needless to say, we partied many a night!

Jeff and I lost contact a year or so after I got out of the Navy and he got sent overseas. It's been 11 years since I got out but I remember him like it was yesterday. There aren't too many stories I tell of my military escapades that don't involve Jeff in some way, he was always in the middle of the action.

I have to tell you though, I am feeling sick to my stomach as I sit here and write this. Jeff had two kids, a daughter and a son which I know he loved more than the world. It saddens me deeply to think about how they miss their dad as I think of how my kids would feel as well. I guess the reality check comes because we all see and hear everyday about roadside bombs and the soldiers and civilians who are killed by them. We stop and think, feel sorry for, and then carry out the rest of our day. It doesn't hit home because it's not someone we know, we've become desensitized to the fact that people are dieing everyday because it dominates the media and life. These are real people with real families. Babies will grow up only to know their mom or dad by a picture, not even a memory! It makes me sick and I don't even know why or what they are dieing for!! Yes I am getting angry! My wife Just gave birth to our daughter on Friday so it really cuts me to think about his kids. I'm sure if you have kids you understand.

Jeff was only 35, way too young to die. The one thing I can say though is that he died doing something he truly believed in. He died for all of us like every other soldier has and we owe them forever.

Jeff, I will miss you and never forget the great times we had.

Eric

Here is a picture of Jeff.

Aislinn Sneak Peak!

Well the last couple of days have been crazy as you can imagine. Aislinn has finally arrived and she is as beautiful as I knew she would be. YES, I AM DEEPLY SMITTEN!! We have had a few setbacks though, Erin developed a fever during labor and passed it to Aislinn. The doctors ran some blood work on her and found her protein count was a little high. She has been on anti-biotics and since then, the fever has passed. Our Pediatrician said shes okay, she is eating fine and moving her stool as well, at this point they say they are just taking precautionary methods. The only thing that stinks is that she can't come home for 7 days! Well it could be worse so we are thankful for that! Please keep her in your prayers, Erin is taking it a little hard but I can totally understand why. As any great mom would, you just want to bring your baby home and start you new life happy and healthy.

So without further ado, here is your sneak peak at Aislinn Elaine Foley. (more to come of course)

Good Times at Max Fish Glastonbury!

I had the pleasure of spending some quality time with my cousin Travis and his girlfriend Natasha yesterday. They both reside in Denver, Co. and came out to visit for a few days. Travis manages an awesome art galley in Denver called Limited Addiction and they both work at Whole Foods. Travis and I go way back and have always kept in touch through the years. My wife Erin, Keegan and I went out to Colorado a year or so ago to visit him as well. We always have a great time and he knows I miss him when he leaves!

We went to lunch at the new Glastonbury Max Fish restaurant, and needless to say, it was really good. If you like raw bar, this is the place to go! They have about 10 different raw oysters to choose from ranging from Wellfleet, Mass. to British Colombia. A food lovers dream, oh, and did I mention the wine?

I think this is the one for Trav, Natasha is really cool so he better not mess this one up! I had to take the cam along to get a few shots of the day, I told our waiter Brent I would give them free publicity!

Travis's cute new girlfriend Natasha

The only word I can think of to describe them is smitten!

How cool! My new restaurant place mat add.

This was the best raw oyster I have ever eaten! All the way from British Colombia!

How can you not enjoy fresh calamari, cooked perfectly!
Grouper Tacos, enough said!
Bottle 1 of 2 from Mud House.

Our awesome and very food educated waiter Brent. He made the experience all the more enjoyable!

What!!!! This was lunch!
